And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
