S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 nay, but the unbelievers glory in their schism. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say: This is an enchanter, a liar. 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a wondrous thing' 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. 8 Or, have they the treasuries of the Mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Giving? 9 Or [that] the dominion over the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? Why, then, let them try to ascend [to God-like power] by all [conceivable] means! 10 A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there. 11 The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes, 12 And [the tribe of] Thamud and the people of Lot and the companions of the thicket. Those are the companies. 13 Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. 14
