Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
