The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
