He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attended to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
