And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said, "Do you see these - whom you worship?" 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 "And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised." 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
