The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and shade extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
