He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attended to him, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fearfully, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
