The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
