The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
