Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets outspread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.
