And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
