The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
