The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
