The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
