The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
