The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What is your opinion regarding him who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What is your opinion if he were upon guidance, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.
