So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said, "In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted." 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 "Did we not restrain you," they said, "from creatures from the outside world?" 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
