The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
