The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
