Light (Al-Noor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ A Surah [is this] which We have bestowed from on high, and which We have laid down in plain terms; and in it have We bestowed from on high messages which are clear [in themselves,] so that you might keep [them] in mind. 1 Flog the fornicatress and the fornicator with a hundred lashes each. Let there be no reluctance in enforcing the laws of God, if you have faith in God and the Day of Judgment. Let it take place in the presence of a group of believers. 2 The adulterer shall not marry except an adulteress or a polytheist woman, and none shall marry an adulteress except an adulterer or a polytheist; and this is forbidden for the believers. 3 And those who accuse honourable women but bring not four witnesses, scourge them (with) eighty stripes and never (afterward) accept their testimony - They indeed are evil-doers - 4 save those who afterwards repent and make amends, for truly God is forgiving and merciful. 5 And as for those who accuse their wives and there are not for them witnesses except themselves, the testimony of one of them shall be four testimonies by Allah: that verily he is of the truth-tellers 6 Then the fifth time he shall declare that Allah's curse be upon him if he be false (in his charge). 7 (As for the woman), it shall avert the punishment from her if she swears four times by Allah that the man is false (in his charge) 8 And a fifth (time) that the wrath of Allah be upon her if he speaketh truth. 9 And had it not been for the grace of Allah and His mercy unto you and that Allah is Relenting, Wise, ye had been lost. 10
