Thamud denied the warning 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 Indeed We sent a shower of stones upon them, except the family of Lut; We rescued them before dawn. 34 through Our Mercy. So it is that We recompense the thankful. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
