The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
