The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
