Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 Nay, man will be evidence against himself, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And it is said: Who will be a magician? 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
