The nobles of Pharaoh said: "He surely is a clever magician. 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 The others suggested holding Moses and his brother off and sending to all the cities 111 "That they bring up to you all well-versed sorcerers." 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 The magicians asked Moses, "Will you throw your staff first or shall we?" 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed in Him before I gave you leave. Surely this is a device you have devised in the city that you may expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They replied: 'We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 And what is it for which thou takest vengeance on us save that we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came unto us? Our Lord! pour out upon us perseverance and cause us to die as Muslims. 126
