۞ And thy Lord hath decreed that ye shall worship none but Him, and unto parents shew kindness; and if either of them or both of them attain old age with thee, say not unto them: pooh. And browbeat them not, and speak unto them a respectful speech. 23 And lower unto them the wing of meekness out of mercy, and say: O my Lord! have mercy on the twain even as they brought me up when young. 24 Your Lord knoweth best what is in your hearts: If ye do deeds of righteousness, verily He is Most Forgiving to those who turn to Him again and again (in true penitence). 25 And give the relative his right, and [also] the poor and the traveler, and do not spend wastefully. 26 spendthrifts are the brothers of Satan, and Satan is ever ungrateful to his Lord -- 27 And even if thou hast to turn away from them in pursuit of the Mercy from thy Lord which thou dost expect, yet speak to them a word of easy kindness. 28 And do not keep your hand chained to your neck (when spending), nor open it completely, so that you will sit blamed and destitute. 29 Your Lord gives abundantly to whom He will and sparingly to whom He pleases. He is informed and observant about His servants. 30
