The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
