We sent Moses with Our signs to the Pharaoh and his nobles. He said: "I have been sent by the Lord of all the worlds." 46 But when he brought to them Our signs they laughed at them, 47 And not an Ayah (sign, etc.) We showed them but it was greater than its fellow, and We seized them with torment, in order that they might turn [from their polytheism to Allah's Religion (Islamic Monotheism)]. 48 'Sorcerer' they said, 'pray to your Lord for us in accordance to the covenant He has made with you, and surely we shall be rightly guided' 49 When We relieved them from the torment they suddenly turned back on their heels. 50 And said Firaun, “O my people! Is not the kingdom of Egypt for me, and these rivers that flow beneath me? So do you not see?” 51 I am surely better than this fellow, who is despicable and can hardly make (his meaning) plain! 52 Why then have bracelets of gold not been cast on him, or angels not come with him conjoined?' 53 So he bluffed his people, and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were [themselves] a people defiantly disobedient [of Allah]. 54 So when they vexed Us, We took vengeance on them, and We drowned them all. 55 And made them a precedent and example for posterity. 56
