Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Dawn 1 And by oath of ten nights. 2 by the even and the odd, 3 Consider the night as it runs its course! 4 Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad - 6 of Iram, known for their lofty columns, 7 the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? 8 And with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the vale, 9 and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles? 10 Those who rebelled in the cities, 11 spreading in them much corruption? 12 Therefore your Lord struck them hard with the means of punishment. 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 So man, whenever his Lord tests him by giving him honour and favours – thereupon he says, “My Lord has honoured me.” 15 However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". 16 Nay! but you do not honor the orphan, 17 Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- 18 and you devour the inheritance greedily, 19 and you love wealth with boundless love! 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 and (when you find yourself) in the presence of your Lord and the rows and rows of angels, your greed for riches will certainly be of no avail to you. 22 And when hell is brought that day – on that day will man reflect, but where is the time now to think? 23 He shall say: O! would that I had sent before for (this) my life! 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 And none will bind as He will bind. 26 O satisfied soul, 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing Him. 28 So enter among My (righteous) servants 29 And come into My Paradise! 30
