The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and shade extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
