Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
