۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said: Nay! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who brought them into existence, and I am of those who bear witness to this: 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): "Indeed you [Ibrahim (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!" 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Shame on you and on whatever you worship instead of God. Can you not understand?" 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 And they wished to cause him harm, so We made them the greatest of losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 We appointed them as leaders to guide the people through Our command and sent them revelation to strive for good deeds, worship their Lord, and pay religious tax. Both of them were Our worshipping servants. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
