۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
