The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
