And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 In a clear Arabic language. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had read it unto them, even then they would not have been believers therein. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 indeed they are debarred from overhearing it. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them. 224 Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley, 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
