The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 it is not a jest. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
