When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 the nation of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Me' 11 Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me, 12 My breast is constricted and my tongue is not fluent, so endow Messengership on Aaron. 13 "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." 14 He said: Nay, verily. So go ye twain with Our tokens. Lo! We shall be with you, Hearing. 15 So go you to Pharaoh, and say, "Verily, I am the Messenger of the Lord of all Being; 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the ingrates. 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 But the favour you oblige me with is that you have enslaved the children of Israel." 22 Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?" 23 He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' 24 Said Firaun to those around him, “Are you not listening with attention?” 25 He said: your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers. 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,' 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 Musa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?" 30 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!" 31 So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
