The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The All-merciful 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He created man 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures: 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He hath loosed the two seas. They meet. 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
