And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
