The dwellers of the forest also rejected the Messengers. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 178 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who give less (than the due). 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption. 183 And fear Him who created you and all the earlier people." 184 They said, "You are no more than a bewitched and insane man 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 “Therefore cause a part of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.” 187 He said, “My Lord is Well Aware of what you do.” 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
