The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the breath of morning 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
