The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And accepts the best, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
