۞ Before this We gave Abraham his virtue, for We knew him. 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 They said, 'Bring him before the people's eyes; haply they shall bear witness.' 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They said: Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything). 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in superfluity, and every one made We righteous 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75
