۞ And certainly We gave to Ibrahim his rectitude before, and We knew him fully well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They asked: "Hast thou come unto us [with this claim] in all earnest - or art thou one of those jesters?" 55 He said, 'Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who originated them, and I am one of those that bear witness thereunto. 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 Some of them said: "We heard a youth called Abraham speak (ill) of them." 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 (So Abraham) said: "Then why do you worship something apart from God that cannot profit you or do you harm? 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We said, 'O fire, be coolness and safety for Abraham!' 69 And they wished to cause him harm, so We made them the greatest of losers. 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob as an additional gift, making each of them righteous. 72 We made them leaders who guided people by Our command. We revealed to them the doing of good, observance of prayer and the giving of alms and Us alone did they worship. 73 And Lot -- to him We gave judgment and knowledge; and we delivered him from the city that had been doing deeds of corruption; they were an evil people, truly ungodly; 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
