The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 and purify your clothing, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And made things easy for them. 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He planned and plotted. 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
