Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 About the guilty: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 running away from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
