The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
