Call to mind when Abraham said to his father and his people: “I totally disown all whom you serve 26 None [do I worship] but Him who has brought me into being: and behold, it is He who will guide me!" 27 And Abraham left behind this word to endure among his posterity so that they may return to it. 28 Yes, I gave the good things of this life to these [men] and their fathers, until the truth came to them, and a messenger expounding things clearly, 29 But when the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and indeed we are, concerning it, disbelievers." 30 They said, "Why was this Quran not sent down to one of the great men of the two cities?" 31 Are they the distributors of your Lord’s mercy? We have distributed among them their comforts in the life of this world, and gave high status to some over others so that they mock at each other; and the mercy of your Lord is better than all what they hoard. 32 And were it not that all mankind would have become of one community (all disbelievers, desiring worldly life only), We would have provided for those who disbelieve in the Most Beneficent (Allah), silver roofs for their houses, and elevators (and stair-ways, etc. of silver) whereby they ascend, 33 And (silver) doors to their houses, and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline, 34 and ornaments; surely all this is but the enjoyment of the present life, and the world to come with thy Lord is for the godfearing. 35
