Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 and the smooth runners 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 and in your selves; what, do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking. 23
